This was taken after I caught a foul ball during batting practice at Dodger Stadium. It was the first time I ever caught a ball at any game and it was so rewarding. I will always tell this story!

Hi, my name is Ana Gabriela Garcia, but I go by Gabi Garcia. I am an Inland Empire and Los Angeles based journalist and student. I am an undergraduate student at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in communications with a concentration in multimedia journalism. I am the graphic designer for the Cypress Chronicle. I also freelance alongside a full-time position as the Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator for Walter's Automotive Group.

I grew up in San Bernardino County, and graduated from Rim of the World High School in 2020. I took a gap year in 2021 and returned to school in summer of 2022 to continue my career in journalism. I attended Cypress College and earned my Associate's degree in fall 2024. 

I am fortunate enough to work for the journalism department at Cypress College as a Newsroom Lab Tech where I design the print edition of the Cypress Chronicle, as well as, edit and post articles written by student staff. I am responsible for the production, editing, and posting of the Cypress Buzz Podcast. 

I currently work for Walter's Automotive Group as the Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator where I create and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube. Engage with audiences and monitor performance to foster an active community. Contribute to campaign ideation and monthly reporting. Assist with website updates, email campaigns, and ensure brand consistency across Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz platforms in collaboration with the marketing and design teams.

I began my journey at Cal Poly Pomona to receive my Bachelor's degree in Communications with a concentration in Multimedia Journalism in August 2025. I am a first generation student, fluent in English and Spanish.

My interest in becoming a journalist began in middle school, I was drawn in by the idea of helping people tell their stories and giving them a voice.

My goal with my career is to be able to help people tell their stories through me and learn from their experiences. I’m currently striving towards a career in sports journalism, specifically working with Major League Baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization. I am also pursuing advancement within the automotive industry.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, social media content creation, and attempt to try new hobbies. I want to travel across the country as well as visit other countries including Europe, Asia, Latin America, and more. I have a small immediate family and try to spend as much time as I can with them. I have one dog named Moose and a cat named Mavis. They are my favorite things in the world.
